Choice Is A Practice - Dr. Tina Koopersmith
CHOICE is the space between what happens to us and what we create next. Sometimes life brings us to enormous crossroads—leaving a community, marriage, career, country, belief system, or identity—and sometimes choice lives in the tiny decisions we make every day: Do I stay with what is familiar or step toward the unknown? Do I wait to be happy, or participate fully in my life today? Change can bring fear and excitement, grief and freedom, loss and possibility—all at once—and rather than rushing past those sensations, we can feel and metabolize them as part of becoming who we are next. We cannot control everything that happens to us, but we can keep asking: Where is my agency now? What am I choosing FOR? Who do I want to be from here? CHOICE becomes a practice: Consciousness, Home, Optimism, Intuition, Creator, and Energy/Eros—coming home to ourselves, listening to our inner knowing, choosing from our values, and following the energy that reminds us: I am still here, I am alive, and I get to participate in what comes next.
5 Key Takeaways
Choice is a practice that creates your life. Becoming more conscious and intentional about your words, thoughts, and responses allows you to actively shape your reality. You cannot control everything, but you can choose your response. Taking responsibility for how you respond moves you from reacting to consciously creating.Challenges can become opportunities for growth. Obstacles and difficult experiences can be approached with curiosity and used for transformation rather than reinforcing a victim story. There is space between what happens and how you respond. Slowing down, becoming curious, and choosing your response can change both your experience and your interactions with others.Life is created one choice at a time. You may not choose what happens around you, but you can continually choose how you respond, what you believe, and who you become.
