Disability Or Superability? With Guest Stephanie Ward
In this episode of Your Healing Playground, Dr. Tina opens with a provocative reframe:
Is it disability… or superability?
Who decides what is “normal,” “able,” or “limited”?
What if our abilities were determined not by society’s labels but by how we choose to see ourselves?
We explore how language shapes reality — how words like disability, disorder, deficit, or slow cast spells that limit potential. And how one shift in perspective, like seeing a stutter as a superpower, can open entirely new pathways of possibility.
Together with guest Stephanie Ward — founder of Spicy Brain Collective and mentor to neurodivergent entrepreneurs — we dig into what neurodivergence really means, how differently-wired brains often hold immense creativity and innovation, and why “regression to the mean” has harmed generations of brilliant minds.
Stephanie shares her personal story of reclaiming her neurodivergence as a gift, not a liability, and how she helps others create structures, tools, and environments where unconventional brains can thrive.
This episode is about rewriting the narrative of ability, shifting from limitation to potentiality, and recognizing that every human is capable of meaningful contribution, connection, and success — when given the right language, support, and freedom to self-express.
Stephanie Ward is the founder of the Spicy Brain Collective and Spicy Brain Energy. These companies help neurodivergent entrepreneurs with a range of done-for-you and done-with-you business services, so that they can achieve the success they deserve in business.
Stephanie is an experienced virtual assistant with a broad range of skills developed across 12 years as a freelancer. First starting as a copywriter in 2012 as a way to pass her maternity leave, she has developed a plethora of services in her one-stop-shop group of companies, ranging from web design, to diary management, to Amazon KDP campaign development, to fundraising, to strategic coaching. She fell into this line of work and unexpectedly found it to be something she loved to do.
Stephanie is a firm advocate for implementation of AI in business, but is concerned about it’s usage by neurodivergents, instead believing that we need to use and develop our own intuition for internal validation.
